  • LA County Department of Public Health, Media Spokesperson Training

    Serving over 10 million residents and millions of travelers each year, DPH is committed to advancing health equity by reducing disparities and supporting policies and programs that lead to healthier environments. In 2020, during the height of the pandemic outbreak, JCL worked In collaboration with the Emergency Preparedness and Response Division (EPRD) and the Office of Communications and Public Affairs (OCPA) to develop a 3-day intensive training program to strengthen the communication skills and abilities of doctors, epidemiologists and subject matter experts chosen to be Media Spokespersons for the department. Participants were trained to deliver clear and concise media interviews in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and other sensitive matters. Emphasis was placed on delivering prompt, reliable, and actionable information to diverse communities, utilizing culturally and linguistically appropriate methods to clearly relay the priorities of the agency.

  • Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, Diversity Equity & Inclusion Forums

    Metropolitan Water District of Southern California serves 26 public water agencies that deliver water to 19 million people in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernadino, San Diego and Ventura counties. JCL facilitated Metropolitan’s (Met) Board of Directors’ first ever Diversity, Equity and Inclusion engagement in Fall 2021, followed by helping the agency develop a DEI Statement and onboarding a Chief DEI Officer. During the Fall of 2022, JCL planned and executed an industry form, entitled “Playing to Win: Advancing Inclusive Excellence”. This engagement signaled a new chapter at Met that is more diverse, equitable and inclusive. Forum participants included Met’s executive managers, employees, and members of the public. Guest speakers from external organizations shared best-in-class practices to advance inclusive leadership, and diverse workforces and suppliers. JCL managed all aspects of the event planning and Principal, JC Lacey emceed panel discussions.

  • LA Metro HR Development, Team Building Workshops

    LA Metro’s Pension and Benefits group has the overall responsibility to implement and administer employee Pension Plans, PERS, 401(k) and retirement benefits for all union and non-contract employees of Metro. JCL served as a Workshop Facilitator subconsultant on a series of Team Building Workshops designed to elevate communication, collaboration, and trust amongst staff (2022~2023). Activities included 1-on-1 interviews, lively group discussions, and memorable team building activities. The training modules covered skills for managing difficult conversations and tools for adapting to change and growth.
